Chapter Awarded Grant to Support Local Veterans

SAFRecently the Chapter has received a grant from the The Community Foundation in Jacksonville, to expand its services for military personnel and their families during and following a deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq. The grant is specifically dedicated to providing transportation assistance and other specific types of financial support to local military veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  The transportation assistance will be to help these veterans travel to the VA hospitals in Gainesville and Lake City.

“Assiting military families and the Vets are a critical part of the American Red Cross mission,” says David Chayer, CEO of the Capital Area Chapter. One of the duties of the American Red Cross is to link members of the U.S. Armed Forces–including the National Guard and Reserves–with their families during a crisis. The Capital Area Chapter is among those chapters who provide support to military personnel and their families 24 hours a day, 365 days a year all through volunteer efforts!

We are excited to have the opportunity to provide continuing support to our local Veterans and their families.

For more information about the services we provide, please contact the Chapter at (850)878-6080 or 866-943-9010
