American Red Cross volunteers come from all walks of life…whether you are an adult, a student, a teenager or a retiree, you can help the American Red Cross live our mission each day by providing critical programs that meet a variety of community needs!

Step 2: Volunteer Application
Please complete our VOLUNTEER APPLICATION and send it to us using any of the following methods:

Step 3: On-Line Orientation
Take our Orientation to the American Red Cross to learn about our mission, volunteer expectations, and to learn the foundation for your volunteer experience.
Step 4: Background Check
The American Red Cross conducts background checks on all volunteers. These background checks include a national criminal database search, social security verification and a motor vehicle check. No personal results of the background check are provided to the chapter, only a notification that the applicants has passed the background check.
Submit your Backgound Check through a secure on-line portal. You will need to know which chapter you are applying to–Capital Area Chapter. You should hear from us within three days of completing the background check.
