The American Red Cross has been serving Tallahassee and the surrounding area since 1917. In the past eighty-three years, it has provided a helping hand by reaching out to local residents, and last year touched the lives of more than 10,500 people in the eight counties that we serve, including Wakulla.

According to a report by Germany-based re-insurer, Munich Re, 2008 had less natural disasters during the year than 2007; however, the catastrophes that occurred during 2008 proved to be more destructive in terms of number of victims and financial costs.
